Children’s storytime in the park - Pallara Park, Pallara
Experience the magic of storytime with your child during a First 5 Forever storytime session in the park at the Pop-up Library. This interactive session includes stories and songs for young children. Ideal for children from birth to five years and their parents or carers. First 5 Forever is an initiative of the Queensland Government, coordinated by State Library of Queensland and delivered in partnership with local government.

Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Little Artist’s Eye Spy
Polish your peepers! You never know what you might spot. There is plenty for little eyes to spy with this free MoB Kids activity sheet. Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. Can you spot the flowers? This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. Family wildlife bridge workshop
Calling all makers and creators! Don't miss out on this fun family activity using upcycled materials for hands-on crafting and construction. Let your imagination go wild! Experiment with upcycled materials building your own wildlife-bridge model and get crafty creating camouflage to disguise a large-scale display model. Join this unique family workshop for a creative look at nearby Compton Road wildlife crossing, linking Karawatha Forest Park and Kuraby Bushlands. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email. Requirements on the day: Please arrive 10-15 minutes early for registration.Wear secure, fully enclosed shoes and sun-smart clothing suitable for messy play and craft.Bring snacks and drinking water in a re-usable bottle, as there are no food outlets on site. Junior Explorers: iNaturalist
Join us in an introductory lesson in using the citizen science app, iNaturalist. Connect with nature while you contribute to scientific research and boost your animal and plant identification skills. Complete fun challenges and become a naturalist in the making, all in the beautiful setting of a nature reserve. This activity is for the general public. If you are a vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email. Artist in Residence: Martin Edge
Queensland artist Martin Edge brings his playful, joy‑filled world to the Fairfax Gallery for his Artist in Residence project. Known for his vibrant scenes inspired by everyday life, from seaside moments and city adventures to his much‑loved CityCat journeys, Edge blends memory and imagination into colourful, whimsical compositions. Across three weeks, Edge will create a large‑scale mural directly onto the gallery walls, offering visitors a rare opportunity to watch his process in action and chat with him as the work evolves. Featuring bright colours, bold geometric forms and iconic Brisbane landmarks, the finished artwork will present two lively scenes of Brisbane City in Edge’s distinctive style. MoB Kids: Remix your Brissy
Build your own Brisbane! Plan your cityscape using paper pieces by Artist in Residence, Martin Edge. Kids can cut, remix and twist together iconic drawings to invent a brand-new city bursting with colour and imagination. Additionally, kids can enter a special competition for the chance to have their creation transformed into a one-of-a-kind artwork by Martin Edge to keep. Build, balance and create. Kids can design and construct their own 3D geometric sculptures of Brisbane’s cityscape and unique architecture. Using colourful shapes and textured elements inspired by Artist in Residence, Renee Kire, little makers can experiment with balance, structure and form while bringing their creative ideas to life. Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Northside NAIDOC Family Fun Day
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across our city and Australia during the month of July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Venue: Koobara Kindergarten, 421 Beams Road, Taigum.
School holiday activity - NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC week celebrates the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Accompany 'Batjala man Uncle Bruce Phillips from MURRI TUKKA' on a walk and explore the ways in which Indigenous people used native plants for food, medicine and toolmaking. You can also join the Education Team to taste test some bush food flavours. Learn the ins and outs of making bracelets from native fibres and sharpen your coordination skills with some traditional Indigenous games that have been played in Australia for many thousands of years. Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn. Location: Meet at the Auditorium lawn. Note: Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult. For more information, send an email.
Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Children will love this tour of the Solar System through the eyes of a family of aliens on vacation from another star system. Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. This show contains some sudden sound effects, fast moving scenes and flashing light sequences.

Passport to the Universe
Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks. Session concludes with a virtual tour of the Brisbane night sky. Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
