Bush Kindy
Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes and activities vary each week. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, email KFDC@brisbane.qld.gov.au Requirements: Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play. Water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site. Note: All outdoor events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
Bush Kindy: Wild Play
Join us for a special Bush Kindy, making memories with your little ones as they take part in outdoor, child-led play. Be prepared to get a little messy! Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through unstructured, open-ended play with natural materials. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. This activity is for the general public. Bring your little ones (aged 0–1) to Karawatha Forest and let them discover the magic of free play in nature. This relaxed, outdoor session introduces babies to the wonders of the bush while offering families a safe, welcoming space to connect with each other and their local reserve. Requirements: All babies must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed walking shoes, and insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch, as no food outlets are available on site. Note: Event may be cancelled on the day due to weather or environmental conditions.
Yoga
Focus on a range of movements to relax the mind and body. Stretching, breathing, strength and balance exercises are included by incorporating standing poses and mat work into the session.

Join us for a special Bush Kindy session in celebration of World Wildlife Day! Bush Kindy is designed for children aged 3–5 years, accompanied by their parents. Each session runs for up to 45 minutes and explores a different nature-based theme each week. In honour of World Wildlife Day, we’ll be highlighting the wonders of local wildlife and the importance of protecting our natural habitats. This activity is for the general public. Guided discovery walk at Karawatha Forest
Join a volunteer guide as they share their knowledge of local flora and fauna along one of the many tracks in Karawatha Forest. Walks are taken at a gentle pace. Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure and fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Note: Walks are subject to weather and environmental conditions. Participants will be notified if the walk is cancelled.
