Volunteer Bushcare Working Bee - Brighton Wetlands Bushcare Group
Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program. Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you! Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects. The Brighton Wetlands Bushcare Group generally meet the on third Sunday of the month 8.30-10.30am. Location: Goodenia Reserve, 93 Massie Street, Brighton.
Agents of Discovery - Explore Boondall Wetlands
Become a Nature Agent and connect with the Boondall Wetlands in a whole new way! Step into the forest and accept your mission! Drop in anytime between 9am and 4pm and Join Agent Tree Frog on a self-guided digital adventure through the Boondall Wetlands designed especially for families. Through interactive challenges and location-based play, you explorers will uncover hidden discoveries and learn about Brisbane's unique wetland habitats along the way. To get started, simply download the free Agents of Discovery app on a mobile phone or iPad before you arrive. The app is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store. Requirements: Mission can be completed, at your own pace All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes please), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Bring drinking water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site.

Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Artist in Residence: Martin Edge
Queensland artist Martin Edge brings his playful, joy‑filled world to the Fairfax Gallery for his Artist in Residence project. Known for his vibrant scenes inspired by everyday life, from seaside moments and city adventures to his much‑loved CityCat journeys, Edge blends memory and imagination into colourful, whimsical compositions. Across three weeks, Edge will create a large‑scale mural directly onto the gallery walls, offering visitors a rare opportunity to watch his process in action and chat with him as the work evolves. Featuring bright colours, bold geometric forms and iconic Brisbane landmarks, the finished artwork will present two lively scenes of Brisbane City in Edge’s distinctive style. Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Wattle bloom walks
Join Mike Gilmour, Queensland Wattle Association, on a guided walk through Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha to view wattles in blossom. What to do on a Brisbane Winter’s Day in the sun Try a walk amongst wattle blossoms that stun Sparking in the sunlight with their green and gold, For all in Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens to behold. Lambs Tails, Zig Zags, Silver Wattles, Golden Wattles in bloom, And more with buds ready to burst from the Winter gloom. Poem by Mike Gilmour© Come join Mike Gilmour, self-styled Wattle Wag of Queensland in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha to view the wattles in blossom on a guided walk. Each walk will include a talk about varieties, the history of the wattle in Australia and Queensland, the importance of wattle as an Australian symbol plus some unusual facts and common myths. Duration: Walks will run for approximately 1.5 hours. Requirements: This walk includes moderate physical activity, including walking slightly longer distances, up gentle slopes and stairs or walking on some uneven surfaces. Some standing periods for explanations with limited seating. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Clock Tower Tour

For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. Get your passport for a thrilling journey through the Solar System, out of the Milky Way Galaxy and to the edge of the observable universe, returning home via a black hole. Narrated by Tom Hanks. Passport to the Universe was developed by the American Museum of Natural History, New York in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
