Thresholds & Memories: Lois Kim, Hannah Seong & Tom Truong
BrisAsia Festival 2026 presents Thresholds & Memories: Lois Kim, Hannah Seong & Tom Truong. This exhibition, open 8am-8pm weekdays and 8am-2pm weekends, explores the subtle structures that shape Asian experiences of movement, memory, and space. Through photography, installation, and painting, the artists reveal overlooked architectures that frame daily life and create layered spaces of belonging and cultural continuity. The Two Fridas by Lois Kim and Hannah Seong, explore architectures of Asian memory and connection. Kim’s beaded curtain honours inherited symbols and domestic thresholds, while Seong’s painting reinterprets The Two Fridas to consider cultural continuity, adaptation, diasporic duality, and friendship. Do Thi 2025 by Tom Truong is a series that captures the everyday industrial streets of Japan, observing traffic and daily activities from a visitor’s perspective. By focusing on moments often unnoticed, the work reflects on how built environments influence our perception of life and examines the interplay between nature and artificial elements - vehicles, signage, and architecture - within a layered landscape. Presented by Lois Kim & Hannah Seong, Tom Truong and the Thomas Dixon Centre.
