Calling all Palm and Cycad enthusiasts! This year's show is on the second weekend of March at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens Auditorium. The gardens have lots of free parking. The show is your best way to purchase native or exotic palms and cycads, with a huge selection of stock to choose from.  We will also be displaying mature plants, so that you can see what your purchases will look like in the future. We have a number of specialist books for sale at the show and all visitors will be able to ask our expert growers and members about the suitability of specific palms and cycads for their garden. Join us on this weekend as it will be a great place for people to indulge their gardening passion.

As a part of the RQAS Workshop Festival, join David Wells, a professional artist and art tutor, to learn more about using soft pastels and how to create your own skyscape. This workshop focuses on capturing the colour and feel of an Australian afternoon Storm, including clouds, suburb landscape and foliage. Students will employ blending, layering and scumbling techniques to create individual artworks and explore personal expression, within a carefully structured class. Join this informative guided walk around the gentle 100m Tulla-yugaipa dhagun Track. Meaning ‘place of useful plants’. A volunteer guide will lead you around the trail to identify some of the featured native plants and other wetlands resources and explain some traditional uses. After the walk, visitors can enjoy other nearby walking tracks, relax in the picnic area, and visit Boondall Wetlands Environment Centre. Walk content most suited for adults, but children are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Requirements: All children must be accompanied by an adult.  Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure and fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen, and insect repellent.  Please bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site.  Note: Walks are subject to weather and environmental conditions.

Leading contemporary artist Gerwyn Davies presents a series of striking photographic portraits developed in collaboration with trans and gender-diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Each vivid image features a handcrafted sculptural costume, allowing the wearer to represent themselves in spectacular ways while simultaneously retaining their anonymity. Together, the works celebrate self-expression, resilience, and the power of chosen visibility. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Presented by Museum of Brisbane in partnership with MELT Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse.   Museum of Brisbane is Brisbane City Council’s leading history and art museum where you can experience our city’s vibrant culture.

RQAS Workshop Festival is back by popular demand, with this year offering a wide range of workshops covering oils, pastels, acrylics, drawing and more throughout the entire month of March. Following on from the RQAS Workshop Festival Open Day, RQAS will be hosting the opening for RQAS Young Artist Award. Petrie Terrace Gallery is showcasing the artwork of Queensland's emerging fine artists throughout the entire month of March with the Young Artist Award Exhibition.  For this exhibition, young artists will submit 2D works on a subject of their choice, focusing on paintings and drawings of a subject observed from life. This includes landscapes, portraits, still lives and their depictions of the world around them.  There will be an open day on Saturday 7 March from 2-3:30pm to celebrate the official opening of the RQAS Young Artist Award Exhibition.
