The Haunts of Brisbane Presents: Tragic Tales of Toowong Cemetery

Beneath the trees, beneath the stars…beneath the stones - the past waits. Join us on a compelling night-time journey through Toowong Cemetery, where tragedy, history, and the supernatural entwine across the winding paths of one of Queensland’s most storied burial grounds. Led by The Haunts of Brisbane creator and acclaimed paranormal historian Liam Baker, this torchlit tour peels back the layers of Brisbane’s lesser-known history - the lives lost, the fates sealed, and the mysteries that have refused to rest. With decades of deep-dive research into Brisbane’s history, Liam brings together grim truths and eerie folklore in a way only he can. Along the way, you’ll uncover: a husband and wife, dead within days - a tragedy so profound it stirred intervention from the CrownBrisbane’s brush with the ‘Black Death’ - and the last-minute decision that changed one burial foreverthe Boggo Road body that toured Brisbane - a macabre journey before its final stop at the morgueaharks and a plane - when sea and sky collided on the beach in one catastrophic disasterBrisbane Gaol at Petrie Terrace - and the northside ground where its executed prisoners were laid to rest. But that’s just the beginning. Expect to hear about the early convict cemetery, murderous tales lost to time, and the chilling stories that have attached themselves to the graves and memories of Toowong. Every tale is rooted in historical fact, no embellishment required. History leaves a mark. Some say it also leaves a presence. Come walk through both... All of our tours are not-for-profit, with all money raised going to our cemetery history and maintenance projects.
