Artist in Residence: Martin Edge
Queensland artist Martin Edge brings his playful, joy‑filled world to the Fairfax Gallery for his Artist in Residence project. Known for his vibrant scenes inspired by everyday life, from seaside moments and city adventures to his much‑loved CityCat journeys, Edge blends memory and imagination into colourful, whimsical compositions. Across three weeks, Edge will create a large‑scale mural directly onto the gallery walls, offering visitors a rare opportunity to watch his process in action and chat with him as the work evolves. Featuring bright colours, bold geometric forms and iconic Brisbane landmarks, the finished artwork will present two lively scenes of Brisbane City in Edge’s distinctive style. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Martin Edge’s Residency is supported by The Culture Crusader. Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. RQAS Queensland Figurative Exhibition
Celebrate the talent and creativity of Queensland artists at the RQAS Queensland Figurative Exhibition, a showcase dedicated to figurative artworks in all their dynamic and expressive forms. The Queensland Figurative is a non‑acquisitive art competition that highlights the enduring significance of the human figure in visual art. These works will be on display for an entire month, offering visitors plenty of time to explore a diverse collection that interprets, challenges and celebrates the human form. Royal Queensland Art Society is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Gumtreekids messy play at Carindale Recreation Reserve - Disney theme
Our regular messy play sessions are all about hands-on fun and sensory exploration using taste-safe, food-based materials. We create a welcoming space for all ages, with a dedicated baby zone for 6–18 months, a toddler zone for busy little movers, and during school holidays we also welcome over 5s to join in the fun. These sessions encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence through play - all in a relaxed, family-friendly environment. Sibling rates and under 20 months are discounted. Play passes are available - 10 play sessions for purchase at a low rate.
Stories You Wear: Magpie Goose
Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose. Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs. This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region’s most talented First Nations artists and designers. Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. The Party - Tiny Stages Series
A whimsical show for infants and toddlers. Sweetie the Swamp Wallaby is getting ready for a big surprise, her joey is about to emerge from her pouch. Luckily, she has her friends Edna the Echidna and Maggie the Magpie to help her prepare. Come join the animals of the forest to get ready for The Party! “Very thoughtful and beautiful. We loved the sensory elements. Kept the children really engaged.” - Audience reaction. Cast: Mary Eggleston Aimee Gray Alison LambolePlaywright and Director: Alice Beaver Clapham Runt time: Approximately 45 minutes. Ages: This is a theatrical experience created for very young audiences, while older siblings are very welcome, please be aware that this is a space for infants and toddlers to safely enjoy. Wine Mum Anthems
A new comedy cabaret for everyone who used to be cool...or not! Come along and mine the archive of Triple J classics of the late 1990s and early 2000s through the (funky glasses frame) lenses of best friends Kate Schirmer and Jen Teh – who used to be super cool. Actually, they were never cool, but they went to a lot of gigs. This show is for every geriatric millennial who is just trying to figure out when they went from singing all of “No Aphrodisiac” at 2am in a bar in The Valley to having it referred to as a “Wine Mum Anthem” in the Hottest 100 of all time. Featuring stories from Jen & Kate’s ill spent youth, and classy cabaret arrangements of songs from iconic bands and artists like The Whitlams, Missy Higgins, You Am I, Lior and more, this show is a must see for anyone who has ever made a mix tape (or even just knows what one is). Ages 15+ only. This show contains gratuitous swearing, sexual references and questionable choices. And a whole lot of absolute bangers from the early 00s. Bands in Parks: Sunset on the Court
Bands in Parks performs at Queensland Tennis Centre. Come along and join the fabulous Brass Roots Live, with energetic rhythms and sublime vocals with a mix of traditional jazz standards and pop classics. Big band music adds a touch of nostalgia and excitement to the silver screen. Whether you are a fan of jazz, swing, or even pop music, this concert promises to be a treat for all ages and all musical tastes. It's a comedy about Oscar winning films, the world's most famous women and the world's oldest profession. “the voice of her generation” said Tim Ferguson, Australian comedian, screenwriter and author An original stand-up comedy show highlighting the challenges faced by older women on screen will premiere as part of the 2026 Brisbane Anywhere Festival in May.
