Bush Kindy: Wild Play
Join us for a special Bush Kindy, making memories with your little ones as they take part in outdoor, child-led play. Be prepared to get a little messy! Bush Kindy is for children aged 3 - 5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence and respect for the environment through unstructured, open-ended play with natural materials. Bush Kindy sessions can go for roughly 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, email DCBC@brisbane.qld.gov.au Requirements: Arrive minimum 10 minutes early to check in with staff at the centre. All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed walking shoes (no thongs or open shoes), sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play. Water and a snack if required, as there are no food outlets on site. Note: All outdoor events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
Guided bird watching walk
Join Environment Centre staff on an early morning walk and improve your bird identification skills while exploring Raven St Reserve. Environment Centre staff will guide you through their tips and tricks to observing birds while providing fun information on what you might see while out in the suburban bush. 12 years and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, email DCBC@brisbane.qld.gov.au Requirements: Please wear a wide-brimmed hat, secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and insect repellent. Please bring drinking water and a snack or picnic lunch as there are no food outlets on site. Forest bathing yoga
Bookings essential. Join us on the platform of the senses trail surrounded by bushland for an hour of forest bathing yoga. Allow your senses to absorb the beautiful forests while stretching and strengthening your body mindfully. Suitable for all abilities.
Tai Chi Qigong
This dynamic activity is invigorating and will help you feel relaxed, refreshed and calm. Rejuvenate your body and learn to create a tranquil mind. Join any week. This is a GOLD event suitable for seniors.
Nature journaling for adults
Join this regular nature journaling get-together at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre on the last Friday afternoon of each month (except public holidays). These informal sessions are a great opportunity to take some time out, relax, and connect creatively with nature. Requirements: Please bring your own basic sketch/art pad. All other materials supplied. Wear sun-safe clothing and secure, fully enclosed walking shoes. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. Bring a lightweight outdoor chair if you'd like to use one. Please arrive 5 minutes early to check-in.Note: This activity will go ahead in light rain and can be delivered indoors if required. Bush Kindy - World Wildlife Day
Join us for a special Bush Kindy session in celebration of World Wildlife Day! Bush Kindy is designed for children aged 3–5 years, accompanied by their parents. Each session runs for up to 45 minutes and explores a different nature-based theme each week. In honour of World Wildlife Day, we’ll be highlighting the wonders of local wildlife and the importance of protecting our natural habitats. Important information before registering: This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity please email us at BWEC@brisbane.qld.gov.au. Cost is free. Suitable for ages 3 - 5 years. Bookings are required via Eventbrite. Maximum 5 tickets. A ratio of 1 adult per 4 children is required. All adults and children (including infants) must have a ticket. As this event is popular and places limited, late arrival tickets will be forfeited to make way for available attendees.
