Puberty, periods and everything in between
Puberty, periods and everything in between can feel like a lot for our girls and for us. At Elladee we make this easier to navigate. We are two registered nurses who share a love for women's health. Join us for a relaxed, nurse led afternoon for mums and daughters (dads and other caregivers are also warmly welcome).This session is for girls aged 13+. It is a gentle and foundational session to discuss, what is happening in their bodies, what is normal and to address the changes before they feel overwhelming. Every question is welcome, nothing is awkward. They are small group sessions where every girl feels safe to ask questions. Just honest, age-appropriate conversation and a chance to connect with your daughter over the changes ahead.Introductory price is $150 per pair ($50 additional child) includes take home resources and light refreshments. Please come and share in a casual, welcoming afternoon to discuss the things that really matter.

Outdoor Learning and the Curriculum: A professional development workshop for educators
This practical workshop demonstrates how the Australian Curriculum cross-curriculum priority area of sustainability can be addressed while taking learning outdoors. The content draws on place-responsive pedagogies and nature connection practices which connect students to place and foster a care of the natural world.Workshop participants will:learn about the benefits of outdoor learning and how outdoor activities can be applied to learning areas including Science, English, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Artsexperience a range of activities and tools that foster connection to place and grow children's ecological literacy - activities include 'sit spots', 'the web of life'; nature journaling; the 'Council of all Beings' and morereflect with other participants on the activities experienced and consider ways to adapt or extend them for different groups of students or for different learning areasbe introduced to 'nature names' - a practice that can be woven through units of work to support students to learn about the plants and animals in local ecosystems and their relationships with each otherreceive access to a resource pack, activity descriptions with links to the Australian curriculum and a certificate for 6 hours of professional development.The approaches and activities introduced in this workshop support students to increase critical and creative thinking and have the knowledge, understanding and skills to engage in creating a more sustainable world. Outdoor learning using these experience-based strategies also supports children's emotional well-being and physical health.While the workshop is focused on primary school teachers, the learnings are also applicable to teachers and educators who work with other students as well as homeschooling parents. The content relates particularly to sections 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.2, and 3.3 of the Australian professional standards for teachers.About the main presenter: Emma Brindal is the founder of WiseEarth Education and has been teaching and facilitating experiential learning and environmental education programs for over a decade. She also works at Northey Street City Farm, where she has developed and run a range of permaculture and sustainability activities and programs for children and adults. Emma holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a Master of Education (Social Ecology).Guest presenter: Artist and educator Bethan Burton of Journaling with Nature will also be running a session on nature journaling to inspire you with a range of ways that nature journaling can be used to enhance outdoor learning.Registration for the workshop: Cost: $160 school-funded/full | $110 student/unwagedWe offer a group discount of 20% for schools / organisations with 3 or more people attending. Do you get to enjoy nature often? Do your kids? Adrian Holbeck from the Cooling Brisbane Initiative is longing for more! He has a vision of wandering through suburban streets lined with native plants, spotting native bees and many other insects and watching little birds and lizards dart around. Adrian would be so happy to breathe in the lovely scent of flowers every season, on every walk, on every street in every suburb of Brisbane.If you also want more nature around you, come and find out how we can all get it. And discover some amazing benefits and beautiful facts on the journey. This very short workshop is for late teens, oldies and anyone in between. Proceeds from this workshop will go to Northey Street's First Nations Collaboration fund.Youth offer This workshop is available to teenagers (12 to 18 years) accompanied by mum, dad or an adult guardian who have also paid to attend the workshop.About the facilitator Adrian Holbeck is a retired psychologist, permaculturist, citizen scientist, parent and grandparent. During the last 20 years he has studied and taught permaculture, horticulture, soil and plant science and climate action. A continuous and relentless learner (especially about the natural world), he is active in community groups and has learned to manage his own anxieties about the future: often through simple community actions.
