Gathering: Bingkin Ngugi
Gatheirng presents Bingkin Ngugi. Bingkin Ngugi (Dean Tyson) is a story holder, a mundu (didgeridoo) musician/song man and celebrated Goori artist. Bingkin tells of Goori education from traditional dreaming stories and the Lore and also demonstrates cultural artefacts and other tools and weaponry. Bingkin shares knowledge of the Goori way of life & Goori way of thinking, always was and always will be Goori Land. Please join us at the main stage of Queen Street Mall from 12noon-1pm as Bingkin facilitates an exciting workshop of the importance of ochre. This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tive Nations.
Practical Wing Chun
Welcome to Practical Wing Chun! We are the martial arts school in Brisbane. Wing Chun is a Kungfu well known for its close quarters combat. It was designed for the street environment where aggression occurs more often. Practical Wing Chun welcomes people of all ages, gender, race, religious beliefs, skill levels, and body types. Peer community visitor volunteers for LGBTI older people in aged care
Queensland Council for Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Intersex Health invites older people to come for a cuppa and chat about our LGBTI Aged Care Volunteer Visiting Service, Tuesday 3 March, 10am-12.30pm at Garden City Library. Gathering presents Leanne Levinge. Leanne Levinge (Kombumerri and Ngugi) is a narrative therapist, counsellor, and facilitator based in Magandjin (Brisbane). Through her practice, Big Hill & Oyster, she designs reflective experiences that nurture compassion, connection, and reconciliation, weaving together story, culture, and community to grow understanding and strengthen our shared humanity. Join Kombumerri and Ngugi narrative therapist Leanne Levinge for a gentle, interactive hour of reflection and storytelling. Together, we’ll explore how compassion can grow through story and connection, add our own words to a community display, and take home native seeds to nurture as living reminders of kindness.
