Four Visions, One Space exhibition

Four Visions, One Space exhibition

'Four Visions, One Space' is an exciting group exhibition at the Richard Randall Art Studio in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt. Coot-tha Road. Featuring works by award-winning artists – Monica Anthon, Juana Bernardo, Lesley Bright and Shruti Kashikar this exhibition celebrates their diverse personal visions and stories through their artistic creations. There is an appealing array of unique artworks including unique semi-precious jewellery, original paintings, gifts and art cards, and textile sculptures, all handmade and one-of-a-kind gifts. This is the perfect opportunity to do your gift shopping under one roof, or get in early for Mother’s Day shopping. There will also be live demonstrations of painting to show the creative process in action. Or come and chat with the artist who will be happy to share her art processes. The Richard Randall Art Studio is located in the Bamboo Grove at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-tha. Enjoy the stunning gardens in their warm autumn colours and then head to the exhibition and pick up some delightful art to display in your home or to gift to loved ones!

Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. From the Ground Up: Propagating plants

This month’s workshop is about propagating plants through seed, cuttings and division. You will receive information about how to make your own propagation soil mix, care for your developing plants, save money and learn about the seasonal cycle of plant life. The practical activity involves making paper pots and planting seeds, cuttings and divisions to take home and care for. From the Ground Up is a five part workshop series on how to garden and grow plants sustainably. The methods and practices in the workshops are designed to restore and nurture the environment and to assist you in growing your garden harmoniously with nature. Each workshop is independent of the others and you do not need to attend them all. For more information, send an email.  Requirements: Please wear a hat and enclosed shoes; and bring a keep cup or water bottle. This workshop is available only to participants 16 years of age or over. Location: Meet at the Kitchen in the Garden. This workshop supports the Botanic Gardens' commitment to creating a plant loving community dedicated to putting the plant back into planet.

The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Join this regular nature journaling get-together at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre on the last Friday afternoon of each month (except public holidays). These informal sessions are a great opportunity to take some time out, relax, and connect creatively with nature. Requirements: Bring your own basic sketch/art pad. All other materials supplied. Wear sun-safe clothing and secure, fully enclosed walking shoes. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site. Bring a lightweight outdoor chair if you'd like to use one. Brisbane's community has proudly organised a parade to recognise the sacrifice of military service in Australia. This year marks the 110th Anniversary of the first Parade, held in Australia on 25th April 1916. Veterans are invited to participate in the march and community members are welcome to volunteer or attend in support of those marching. Arrive early to collect a free program and Australian flag waver, available from 9-9:30am and distributed by Australia Post volunteers.
