Stories You Wear: Magpie Goose
Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose. Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs. This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region’s most talented First Nations artists and designers. Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. Alliance Francaise French Film Festival
The Alliance Française French Film Festival returns to Brisbane, presenting a rich and diverse celebration of French-language cinema. The festival brings a curated programme of feature films from France and the Francophone world, screening in original French with English subtitles. Over the season, audiences can experience a wide range of genres including contemporary dramas, comedies, documentaries and classics, reflecting the creativity and vitality of French cinema. Highlight events in Brisbane include the Opening Night Gala, themed CinéWine sessions with a glass of French wine on arrival, a family-friendly Ciné-Croissant screening with refreshments included, and the Closing Night presentation. Pastel Skyscapes Workshop with David Wells
As a part of the RQAS Workshop Festival, join David Wells, a professional artist and art tutor, to learn more about using soft pastels and how to create your own skyscape. This workshop focuses on capturing the colour and feel of an Australian afternoon Storm, including clouds, suburb landscape and foliage. Students will employ blending, layering and scumbling techniques to create individual artworks and explore personal expression, within a carefully structured class. Artist in Residence: Gerwyn Davies
Leading contemporary artist Gerwyn Davies presents a series of striking photographic portraits developed in collaboration with trans and gender-diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Each vivid image features a handcrafted sculptural costume, allowing the wearer to represent themselves in spectacular ways while simultaneously retaining their anonymity. Together, the works celebrate self-expression, resilience, and the power of chosen visibility. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Presented by Museum of Brisbane in partnership with MELT Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse. RQAS Workshop Festival
RQAS Workshop Festival is back by popular demand, with this year offering a wide range of workshops covering oils, pastels, acrylics, drawing and more throughout the entire month of March. The workshops will be available for children, teenagers and adults of all skill levels. The Festival will also run in conjunction with the biennial Young Artist Award, and to start things off, RQAS will be holding an Open Day at Petrie Terrace Gallery on Saturday 7 March. Held at both Petrie Terrace Gallery and at off-site locations, this is the time to try something new and see what Brisbane tutors have to offer. RQAS is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. RQAS Workshop Festival 2026 - Open Day
To kick off the RQAS Workshop Festival, RQAS will be hosting an Open Day at Petrie Terrace Gallery. This event is an opportunity for attendees to mingle, meet tutors and other artists, and find out more about other local art groups and workshops included in the Festival. There will be a morning tea offering coffee and tea with cake available on the day for purchase. Following on from the RQAS Workshop Festival Open Day, RQAS will be hosting the opening for RQAS Young Artist Award. If you would like to hang around and be a part of this event, tickets can be purchased via RQAS website. Location: Downstairs gallery, making it wheelchair accessible. Petrie Terrace Gallery is showcasing the artwork of Queensland's emerging fine artists throughout the entire month of March with the Young Artist Award Exhibition. For this exhibition, young artists will submit 2D works on a subject of their choice, focusing on paintings and drawings of a subject observed from life. This includes landscapes, portraits, still lives and their depictions of the world around them. There will be an open day on Saturday 7 March from 2-3:30pm to celebrate the official opening of the RQAS Young Artist Award Exhibition. What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own. This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. See if you can catch a glimpse of the bells! Make a booking online today to secure your spot! Spaces are limited and fill up quickly. Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs - The Wild Robot
Enjoy the magic of the movies with The Wild Robot at your local park. The film will start shortly after sundown, so get in early to secure your spot. Take along chairs or a blanket, snacks or purchase from our vendors. This movie screening will have subtitles. This event is pet friendly! Please make sure to keep your furry friends on a leash if you bring them along. Bands in Parks performance by Rivercity Steel Band and Mini Rivers Band from 5:15pm. Movie screening from 6:45pm.

Bands in Parks performs at Lanham Park. Musical Chairs Jazz Band will bring their unique sounds to the Bands in Parks program. Invite family and friends for an afternoon on the green. Food and drinks will be available for purchase.
Bands in Parks: Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs
Bands in Parks performs at Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs. As the sun goes down, local parks are transformed into outdoor cinemas with food stalls, fun activities and live music. Rivercity Steel Band and Mini Rivers Band will be performing prior to the Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs screening of The Wild Robot, under the stars. Pack a blanket, get together with family and friends, and make the most of our beautiful climate and greenspaces. Bands in Parks performance from 5:15pm. The Wild Robot will be screening from 6:45pm.

MacArthur Museum - New exhibition on Prisoners of War
In a new exhibit on Australian Prisoners of War in the Pacific, MacArthur Museum highlights the horrific experience of Australians as prisoners of the Japanese through a new physical and digital display. The display examines the conditions the Prisoners of War worked under, the ingenuity of the medical officers and the brutality of their captors. Come and visit the MacArthur Museum to learn about the role of Brisbane in World War 2, the South West Pacific Area Campaign and General Douglas MacArthur. Acrylic and Charcoal Cityscape: Teens Workshop with Kathy Sullivan
Calling all creative teens! As a part of the RQAS Workshop Festival, Kathy Sullivan will be running a workshop for teens. Using Charcoal and acrylic paint, participants will have the opportunity to learn about one-point perspective by creating their own cityscape. During this workshop, participants will receive a vague image mapped out onto the canvas boards and this will lead to a discussion about one point perspective. They will then be guided through creating a sky and then filling in the shapes of the buildings, the use of tones to create background and foreground and then how to use charcoal to emphasise details on the buildings, and finalise their artwork. Whether you have been drawing for a while and want to perfect your skills, or new to learning about perspective, don't miss this fantastic opportunity. As a part of your ticket, all materials will be provided by the tutor. Make sure to purchase tickets soon as spaces are limited! Bands in Parks: Voices - Celebrate International Women's Day
Bands in Parks performs at Brisbane City Hall. Join Queensland Wind and Brass in a vibrant International Women’s Day concert celebrating women who create, lead and inspire through music. Conducted by Alisa Jones, this uplifting program features the world premiere of a new work by acclaimed Australian composer Kara Williams, alongside much-loved favourites from Annie, Wicked and Disney, as well as evocative works including My Dearest Jane and Aurora Borealis. Bold, heartfelt and joyful, Voices honours women’s voices in all their strength and diversity, on stage, behind the scenes and in the stories that continue to shape us. The concert is free but if you would like to sit and sip with a glass of wine and cheese plate, or enjoy afternoon tea and cake, then it’s just $12 per person. Gumtreekids Messy Play at Carindale Recreation Reserve - space and galaxy theme
Join us for a messy, fun and creative themed messy play experience! At Gumtree Kids, little hands are encouraged to explore, create and play freely through thoughtfully designed sensory stations and open-ended play. Each session is themed, hands-on and full of textures, colours and imagination - all set up for children to enjoy at their own pace.
