Volunteer Bushcare Working Bee - Gertrude Petty Place Bushcare Group
Join other like-minded volunteers to help protect and restore Brisbane’s unique biodiversity through our Habitat Brisbane program. Whatever your skill level and motivation, joining your local Habitat Brisbane group is a great way to connect to nature and be active and healthy, all while meeting new people, developing new skills and making a difference to your local environment. With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you! Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects.
Four Visions, One Space exhibition
'Four Visions, One Space' is an exciting group exhibition at the Richard Randall Art Studio in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt. Coot-tha Road. Featuring works by award-winning artists – Monica Anthon, Juana Bernardo, Lesley Bright and Shruti Kashikar this exhibition celebrates their diverse personal visions and stories through their artistic creations. There is an appealing array of unique artworks including unique semi-precious jewellery, original paintings, gifts and art cards, and textile sculptures, all handmade and one-of-a-kind gifts. This is the perfect opportunity to do your gift shopping under one roof, or get in early for Mother’s Day shopping. There will also be live demonstrations of painting to show the creative process in action. Or come and chat with the artist who will be happy to share her art processes. The Richard Randall Art Studio is located in the Bamboo Grove at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mount Coot-tha. Enjoy the stunning gardens in their warm autumn colours and then head to the exhibition and pick up some delightful art to display in your home or to gift to loved ones!
Brisbane Anzac Day Parade
Brisbane's community has proudly organised a parade to recognise the sacrifice of military service in Australia. This year marks the 110th Anniversary of the first Parade, held in Australia on 25th April 1916. Veterans are invited to participate in the march and community members are welcome to volunteer or attend in support of those marching. Arrive early to collect a free program and Australian flag waver, available from 9-9:30am and distributed by Australia Post volunteers. RQAS Queensland Figurative Exhibition
Celebrate the talent and creativity of Queensland artists at the RQAS Queensland Figurative Exhibition, a showcase dedicated to figurative artworks in all their dynamic and expressive forms. The Queensland Figurative is a non‑acquisitive art competition that highlights the enduring significance of the human figure in visual art. These works will be on display for an entire month, offering visitors plenty of time to explore a diverse collection that interprets, challenges and celebrates the human form. Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Clock Tower Tour

Convict Brisbane Walking Tour
Explore Brisbane’s colonial history on this guided tour through the city’s convict past. Beginning at the historic Windmill on Wickham Terrace and winding down to the river at Queens Wharf, the tour traces Brisbane’s transformation between 1823 and 1842 - from a remote penal outpost to an emerging free town. Hear stories of convicts and commandants, revealing how punishment, labour and authority shaped daily life. Along the way, our guides bring the settlement into focus, illuminating the social fabric and living conditions, as well as the central role of the Brisbane River in sustaining the colony. Woven throughout the tour are First Peoples’ responses to British settlement, their enduring connection to Country, and the Frontier wars that directly followed this era. Together, these intersecting stories offer a deeper understanding of how Brisbane grew from its earliest foundations into a regional centre. Tour highlights include: The Windmill, The Brisbane Crest, The Petrie Tableau, Convict-built structures and surviving remnants, Miller Park and the Commissariat Stores, Queens Wharf and, the Brisbane River. This 90‑minute, 1.75km tour is designed to suit most fitness levels, however, please note it includes walking downhill along city streets and across uneven surfaces. Bands in Parks: The Spirit of the Anzacs
Bands in Parks performs at St Augustine's Church, Hamilton. Brisbane Excelsior conducted by Howard Taylor presents a special Anzac Day concert in the beautiful acoustic setting of St Augustine’s Church. This moving program honours courage, sacrifice and hope through powerful brass band favourites including the triumphant Dambusters March, the deeply reflective Nimrod, the adventurous themes from The Great Escape and the unmistakable swing-era sounds of Glenn Miller. From moments of quiet reflection to bold uplifting melodies , this concert promises a rich and emotional journey that commemorates the Anzac spirit while celebrating the enduring power of music. Aqua aerobics

Sherwood Arboretum guided walk
Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane’s only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane. The guided walk will be led by the Volunteer Guides of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the Friends of Sherwood Arboretum. Requirements: Wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the shelter adjacent to the main carpark off Jolimont Street, Sherwood. Age: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
