Polish your peepers! You never know what you might spot. There is plenty for little eyes to spy with this free MoB Kids activity sheet. Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. Can you spot the flowers? This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. Artist in Residence: Gerwyn Davies
Leading contemporary artist Gerwyn Davies presents a series of striking photographic portraits developed in collaboration with trans and gender-diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Each vivid image features a handcrafted sculptural costume, allowing the wearer to represent themselves in spectacular ways while simultaneously retaining their anonymity. Together, the works celebrate self-expression, resilience, and the power of chosen visibility. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Presented by Museum of Brisbane in partnership with MELT Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse. Micro Museum
What will you collect? Welcome to Micro Museum – a space for telling stories through objects. You are invited to explore the fascinating world of collecting, and uncover the memories that objects hold. Inspired by major exhibition Precious in this space you are the curator. You can select, sort and arrange a wide array of items, many of which are second-hand or vintage. Each object holds memories, and now you can create your own. Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Workshop - Fundamental Structure of the Human Head: The Key to Expressive Likeness with Dr Kay Kane
RQAS is offering an incremental 5-week workshop suitable for both beginners and experienced artists, led by acclaimed artist and educator Dr. Kay Kane, who brings over 50 years of practice and 45 years of visual art teaching experience. The workshop focuses on the fundamentals of drawing, moving beyond photographic realism to explore the essential elements of the craft. Participants will learn to observe and interpret size, scale, shape, tone, and spatial relationships - key skills for expressing any formal idea. Through guided practice, participants will develop the ability to draw accurately and with clarity by selecting, organizing, and simplifying forms. The workshop also explores the connection between structure and expressive interpretation, with a special focus on capturing the human visage. Each class is limited to 10 participants, so early bookings are recommended to secure a place. All materials will be provided by the tutor, including graphite, 2B/4B/6B pencils, a plastic ruler, eraser, heavy cartridge paper, and mixed media card. Please note that the workshop will be held in the upstairs studio gallery, which is only accessible via a flight of stairs. RQAS is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Outdoor Cinema in the Suburbs - Smurfs
Enjoy the magic of the movies with Smurfs (2025) at your local park. The film will start shortly after sundown, so get in early to secure your spot. Take along chairs or a blanket, snacks or purchase from our vendors. This movie screening will have subtitles. This event is pet friendly! Please make sure to keep your furry friends on a leash if you bring them along.
Sunnybank Lunar New Year Rooftop Party
Sunnybank Lunar New Year Rooftop Party is presented as part of BrisAsia Festival 2026. Sunnybank's Lunar New Year Rooftop Party is a free, family friendly event on the rooftop at Sunnybank Plaza. Featuring Brisbane’s biggest Lunar New Year fireworks display and an exciting line-up of live entertainment, lion and dragon dance performances and activities for the kids, it’s the perfect way to welcome the Year of the Horse. Sunnybank restaurants will be available for dine in or takeaway, with special Lunar New Year menu offerings. The celebration starts at 5pm with fireworks scheduled for 8pm. Celebrating Country and Culture through the bold designs of Magpie Goose. Museum of Brisbane is excited to collaborate with Magpie Goose, a proudly Aboriginal owned and led fashion and social enterprise, to celebrate extraordinary First Nations cultural stories and designs. This exclusive to Brisbane exhibition, developed in close collaboration with Magpie Goose owners Amanda Hayman (Wakka Wakka and Kalkadoon) and Troy Casey (Kamilaroi), offers a deep dive into the work of some of the region’s most talented First Nations artists and designers. Using clothing as a canvas for storytelling, this exciting collaboration will connect audiences with the rich and diverse cultural expressions of First Nations communities in Queensland and beyond. MacArthur Museum - New exhibition on Prisoners of War
In a new exhibit on Australian Prisoners of War in the Pacific, MacArthur Museum highlights the horrific experience of Australians as prisoners of the Japanese through a new physical and digital display. The display examines the conditions the Prisoners of War worked under, the ingenuity of the medical officers and the brutality of their captors. Come and visit the MacArthur Museum to learn about the role of Brisbane in World War 2, the South West Pacific Area Campaign and General Douglas MacArthur.
