Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins.Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending.Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Blankets and bubs
Blankets and Bubs is a free community meet-up connecting local mums and bubs aged 0-3 years. Located at Calamvale District Park and set up on soft blankets and rugs near the little green playground and public toilets, mothers and babies can enjoy socialising in the sunshine and beautiful park surrounds.Whether you are a first time mother or have had a baby before, this is a great opportunity to foster friendships in a welcoming low-stakes environment.
Bush Kindy - Kirra and Coco
Join this special Bush Kindy with local author Emily Serow for story-time with her new book about koala sisters, Kirra and Coco, and enjoy fun koala-inspired activities. Bush Kindy is for children aged 3-5 years, alongside their parents and carers. Be immersed in the natural surroundings of the reserve as children build nature confidence through bushwalks, exploration, story-time, art 'n' craft and much more.Bush Kindy sessions can go up to 45 minutes and will go ahead in light rain. Themes vary each week.This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity please email us at KFDC@brisbane.qld.gov.au.Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in at the environment centre. All children must be directly supervised by an adult. Wear a hat, sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, sunscreen, and bring insect repellent. Suitable old clothes recommended for messy play. Prepare, deliver, succeed - if you can dream it, you can do it!This year's theme is Legends and icons: the people, moments and music that shaped our world. This theme is a powerful way to celebrate the extraordinary individuals, defining moments and unforgettable music that have shaped generations.After completing the masterclasses, some participants perform in a showcase which are held across the city.
