With 160 groups across the city there’s bound to be one near you! Habitat Brisbane volunteers undertake a variety of activities including: managing environmental weeds revegetating with local native plants creating habitat for native wildlife citizen science projects.

Sherwood Arboretum Guided Walk

Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane’s only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane. The guided walk will be led by the Volunteer Guides of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the Friends of Sherwood Arboretum. Requirements: Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the shelter adjacent to the main carpark off Jolimont Street, Sherwood. Age: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Venue: Sherwood Arboretum, 87 Jolimont Street, Sherwood.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day. Bookings required via Eventbrite. Leading contemporary artist Gerwyn Davies presents a series of striking photographic portraits developed in collaboration with trans and gender-diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Each vivid image features a handcrafted sculptural costume, allowing the wearer to represent themselves in spectacular ways while simultaneously retaining their anonymity. Together, the works celebrate self-expression, resilience, and the power of chosen visibility. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Presented by Museum of Brisbane in partnership with MELT Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse.   Museum of Brisbane is Brisbane City Council’s leading history and art museum where you can experience our city’s vibrant culture.

Through hands-on activities and creative play, we’ll explore the wonderful world of shorebirds – how they live, what makes them special, and why our wetlands are so important to them. Take part in an interactive activity that brings these remarkable birds to life. Afterwards, explore the centre’s interactive displays or take a walk around the wetlands to see if you can spot some real-life feathered friends! Important information before you register: Suitable for ages 7-12 years All adults and children attending require a ticket for this event Maximum of 5 people per booking Children must be accompanied by an adult throughout, with a ratio of 1 adult supervising up to a maximum of 4 children If you cannot attend, please cancel your booking online via Eventbrite.On the day of the event: Please arrive 10 minutes before the starting time to check in with environment centre staff. For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city.
