Petrie Terrace Gallery is showcasing the artwork of Queensland's emerging fine artists throughout the entire month of March with the Young Artist Award Exhibition.  For this exhibition, young artists will submit 2D works on a subject of their choice, focusing on paintings and drawings of a subject observed from life. This includes landscapes, portraits, still lives and their depictions of the world around them.  There will be an open day on Saturday 7 March from 2-3:30pm to celebrate the official opening of the RQAS Young Artist Award Exhibition. Leading contemporary artist Gerwyn Davies presents a series of striking photographic portraits developed in collaboration with trans and gender-diverse young people from Open Doors Youth Service. Each vivid image features a handcrafted sculptural costume, allowing the wearer to represent themselves in spectacular ways while simultaneously retaining their anonymity. Together, the works celebrate self-expression, resilience, and the power of chosen visibility. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Presented by Museum of Brisbane in partnership with MELT Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse.   Museum of Brisbane is Brisbane City Council’s leading history and art museum where you can experience our city’s vibrant culture.

For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Bands in Parks performs at Brisbane City Hall. Join Queensland Wind and Brass in a vibrant International Women’s Day concert celebrating women who create, lead and inspire through music. Conducted by Alisa Jones, this uplifting program features the world premiere of a new work by acclaimed Australian composer Kara Williams, alongside much-loved favourites from Annie, Wicked and Disney, as well as evocative works including My Dearest Jane and Aurora Borealis. Bold, heartfelt and joyful, Voices honours women’s voices in all their strength and diversity, on stage, behind the scenes and in the stories that continue to shape us. The concert is free but if you would like to sit and sip with a glass of wine and cheese plate, or enjoy afternoon tea and cake, then it’s just $12 per person.  Make it an afternoon out - invite family and friends for an afternoon at City Hall.
