Artist in Residence: Renee Kire
Step inside an exciting new residency project that invites you to experience art in unexpected ways. Artist in Residence Renee Kire takes over Museum of Brisbane’s entryway, transforming these spaces with a vibrant and dynamic mix of striking vinyl graphics and sculptural timber elements. These features create an immersive pathway that stretches across walls and ceilings, guiding you into the heart of the Museum. Drawing inspiration from Minimalism while reinterpreting the movement through a contemporary feminist lens, Kire brings fresh attention to the often-overlooked contributions of women in the field. Bright, colourful and welcoming for all visitors, the artwork is both joyful and thought-provoking. Responding directly to the architecture of the Museum, City Hall and the Brisbane cityscape, Kire’s design reveals unexpected connections between the built environment and abstract form. Repetition, rhythm and thoughtful details invite you to slow down, look closely and discover new perspectives. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Little Artist’s Eye Spy
Polish your peepers! You never know what you might spot. There is plenty for little eyes to spy with this free MoB Kids activity sheet. Transform your Museum visit into an exciting game of Eye Spy and discover details you might otherwise have missed. Can you spot the flowers? This playful Museum experience will immerse you in all manners of local art, history and culture, encompassing five different exhibitions. Ask our friendly staff at MoB reception when you arrive. Intro to boxing
Bookings essential. Give boxing a go in this fun, beginner friendly, come and try session! Learn basic techniques, improve your fitness, and build confidence through non-contact drills and bag work. Perfect for beginners looking to try something new and energetic. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 12-17 years.
Kids passport adventure
Bookings essential. Come and join in the fun of this adventure walk. Every family who comes along will receive a Passport with a list of key features to find including scenery and animals. Your family will work together as a team to find all the special locations then get them stamped in your passport. Siblings under 3 years of age are welcome to attend for free. This is a GOLD'n'Kids event suitable for seniors and young people 3 years and over.
MoB Kids: Remix your Brissy
Build your own Brisbane! Plan your cityscape using paper pieces by Artist in Residence, Martin Edge. Kids can cut, remix and twist together iconic drawings to invent a brand-new city bursting with colour and imagination. Additionally, kids can enter a special competition for the chance to have their creation transformed into a one-of-a-kind artwork by Martin Edge to keep. Bookings essential. Experience interesting games that are played around the world - Egypt, Africa, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Australia. This interactive program is great for your hand eye coordination and loads of fun for all ages, including adults and teens. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 8-17 years old.
Warrajamba
Follow the mermaid in the bay. Dive into story, culture and hands-on creativity with our latest Artist in Residence, Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins. Journey alongside Delvene to the shores of Minjerribah and discover the ancestral story of Warrajamba, the mermaid, a living cultural legacy that Delvene continues to explore as she searches for its lost ending. Get hands-on and create your own mermaid or dugong using artist-designed stamps, connecting with the stories of Warrajamba and Yungong, the dugong. Discover Delvene’s powerful sculptural work made from materials gathered from Country - yungair/yungaire (freshwater reed), talwalpin (beach hibiscus cotton tree), and quampie shell. Come and be immersed in a space that celebrates care for land, sea and story. MoB’s Artist in Residence program is supported by Tim Fairfax AC. Northside NAIDOC Family Fun Day
NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across our city and Australia during the month of July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Venue: Koobara Kindergarten, 421 Beams Road, Taigum.
School holiday activity - NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC week celebrates the history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Accompany 'Batjala man Uncle Bruce Phillips from MURRI TUKKA' on a walk and explore the ways in which Indigenous people used native plants for food, medicine and toolmaking. You can also join the Education Team to taste test some bush food flavours. Learn the ins and outs of making bracelets from native fibres and sharpen your coordination skills with some traditional Indigenous games that have been played in Australia for many thousands of years. Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn. Location: Meet at the Auditorium lawn. Note: Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult. For more information, send an email.
Clock Tower Tour
Discover the hidden secrets of your heritage-listed City Hall building with a guided tour of Brisbane’s iconic Clock Tower. The Clock Tower Tour is a “must do” while in Brisbane! For many years, City Hall’s Clock Tower elevated the building to Brisbane’s tallest, offering visitors a magnificent 360 degree view of the city around them. Whilst the view has changed significantly over the last 90 years, the time-honoured tradition of “taking a trip up the tower” happily continues at Museum of Brisbane. The Clock Tower Tour includes a ride in one of Brisbane’s oldest working cage lifts, a look behind Australia’s largest analogue clock faces and time to explore the observation platform that shares a unique perspective of your city. Bookings essential. Nature Moves: Leap, stretch, twist, and run! Kids will move like the wind and the trees, using their bodies to create stories, play games, and explore the outdoors as a stage. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 5-14 years.

Dragon boating
Bookings essential. Have fun learning how to paddle in a 12m dragon boat and see the city from a different perspective. Session includes a warm-up, paddling instruction and time on the water. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 10-17 years.
Basketball skills and drills
Bookings essential. Skill development and fun games with fundamental basketball skills, drills and 3x3 action. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 6-17 years.
Free guided tours - Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha
Take a free volunteer guided walk to learn about the plants and features at Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane’s Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors. Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking. Have a larger group? Find out more about booking walks for groups 10 or more in size. Walk times: Walks depart at 11am and 1pm, Monday to Saturday. Walk duration: Walks last about one hour and are taken at a gentle pace. Meeting point: Meet at the Mt Coot-tha Visitor Information Centre. Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Come and try running with fully accredited coaches. Learn techniques that will help you run stronger and smarter. These sessions focus on technique, speed, endurance and fun. All levels welcome.
