The Brisbane Organic Growers Annual Fair is a lively celebration of organic home gardening and sustainable living.Explore around forty stalls offering a diverse range of plants and garden-related products, hear from inspiring speakers sharing their knowledge on organic gardening, and enjoy a friendly fruit and vegetable growing competition showcasing produce grown by club members.Guests can also relax at the café with light refreshments while soaking up the atmosphere. This year's theme, "Recycling in the Garden," highlights creative and practical ways to garden more sustainably.This event is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council. Sherwood Arboretum guided walk

Sherwood Arboretum, established in 1925, is Brisbane's only botanic garden dedicated exclusively to growing Australian native trees. The Arboretum holds scientific and cultural values with many of the original plantings undertaken by prominent citizens of Brisbane.The guided walk will be led by the Volunteer Guides of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha and the Friends of Sherwood Arboretum. Requirements: Wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen. Meeting point: Meet at the shelter adjacent to the main carpark off Jolimont Street, Sherwood. Age: Open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.

Join us for a free PlatypusWatch Walk and Talk as part of PlatyMonth.PlatypusWatch Project Officer Dr Tamielle Brunt will talk about this amazing animal as well as the research happening in Brisbane. As you walk through known platypus habitat, Tamielle will talk about what keeps them happy in the waterways, local conservation efforts and how you can get involved in platypus spotting and contribute to local Platy-Project monitoring programs.Arrive ten minutes early to check in and confirm your attendance.Requirements: Wear secure, fully enclosed walking shoes, and light-weight long pants and long sleeves are recommended. Bring, insect repellent, drinking water, snack, and a raincoat if required. It is important to dispose of household hazardous waste safely. Household hazardous waste includes everyday products that can be corrosive, flammable, explosive, toxic or poisonous. These can include bleach, petrol, garden and pool chemicals, and cleaning solvents purchased from supermarkets and hardware stores.Brisbane residents can drop-off hazardous items for free on designated collection days throughout the year.Items must remain in their original containers and not be mixed.The next hazardous waste drop-off day is coming up at Chandler Resource Recovery Centre.Find out more, including opening times and limits, visit household hazardous waste.

Our new community walking group is a relaxed, social way to explore Brisbane's beautiful parks and green spaces.Walking in a group is a safe and supportive way to explore bushland, especially for those who may be unfamiliar with the area or prefer not to walk alone. Along the way, you might pick up interesting facts about local flora, fauna, and history, while enjoying the many benefits of walking, from improved health, community connection, and time in nature.Requirements: Safety first! Please wear closed-in walking shoes, bring a water bottle, and dress in sun-protective clothing including a hat and sunscreen. This is The Geranium and Pelargonium Society's 75th Year, with a $5 admission fee. Every year is a resounding success with crowds in the hundreds. This year we were hoping to have the the extra space of the Albion overpass park to handle the expected increase in numbers.....We will have over 600 plants from our members, locally and nationally sourced.There are a workshops from members who are most knowledgeable about all things geraniums who will be available to answer your questions.Preserves, jams and raffles too.Delicious scones, jam and cream with tea or coffee. Our volunteer guides all have a love for Brisbane's Botanic Gardens and a desire to share their passion and knowledge with visitors.Walking tours for individuals and small groups (up to ten people) are free and do not require a booking.
