Bands in Parks: A Swinging Victory - The Big Bands of WWII

Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha

About This Event

Bands in Parks performs at Brisbane Botanic Gardens. Victory to the people! The War is over, and the spirit of Jazz remains triumphant. The South East Queensland Big Band presents a Swinging Victory, a tribute to the Big Bands and radio legends of the World War 2 era. You’ll hear works of the jazz greats of the 1930s and 40s, who took their instruments and music to the front with them to boost the morale of troops and loved ones back home. This was the era of the Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington Big Bands, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat King Cole. This is a day for young and old, so take yourself back in time and swing into victory with us.
