Junior Explorers: Bug Detectives (6 years+) (with iNaturalist)

Meet some of the Environment Centre’s resident insects and other mini-beasts at a fun bug show, then test out your detective skills on a short walk investigating bugs and their habitats. What will we find living nearby? Learn how you can help these bugs using citizen science app, iNaturalist. Join this one-of-a-kind school holiday activity to discover fascinating facts about bugs and other mini-beasts and find out why these amazing animals are nature’s superheroes! This activity is for the general public. If you are a daycare or vacation group interested in attending a similar activity, send an email. Bookings requirements: All adults and children require a ticket. A ratio of 1 adult per 4 children is required. Maximum 5 tickets per booking.If you cannot attend this event, please cancel your booking online via Eventbrite.As our program is popular, your tickets will be forfeited if you do not arrive in time for the session to make way for available attendees.Requirements on the day: Arrive 10 minutes before starting time to check in with staff at the Environment Centre.All children must be accompanied and directly supervised by an adult.Wear sun-safe clothing, fully enclosed shoes, and bring sunscreen and insect repellent.Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.Recommend downloading the app "iNaturalist" before attending.Note: This event will go ahead in light rain.
